Welder and Chicoyne co-leaders at Alberta Mens Amateur Championship
Alberta Golf (Calgary) – The first round of the 2021 Alberta Mens Amateur Championship from The Calgary Golf and Country Club is in the books. On a calm sunny day in Calgary, Jamie Welder of Country Hills Golf Club and Jakob Chicoyne of The Glencoe Golf and Country Club both shot 3-under 67 with Dustin Yeager of Mickelson National Golf Club one shot back.
Before action began in the morning, 2 legends of Alberta Golf were given a great tribute. 91-year-old Bob Wylie and 88-year-old Doug Silverberg were named honorary starters. The two friends and members of the Calgary Golf and Country Club have won this event a combined 9 times and 37 provincial titles.
