THE 2023 GOLF SEASON IS JUST ABOUT HERE !
Alberta Golf tournament registration is a few weeks away and golf courses across our province are getting ready to open soon. The interest in the game of golf remained strong in 2022 across Alberta and that should continue this year. Alberta Golf is excited to announce 3 new championships this season as well as continuing our UpSwing offerings, 24 tournaments on the McLennan Ross Alberta Junior Tour and $5 golf for juniors in our popular Youth on Course program. Please enjoy the following look at what Alberta Golf has been up to the past few months as we prepare for the upcoming season.
APRIL 3 CHAMPIONSHIP AND JUNIOR TOUR REGISTRATION: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.
Our Championship registration opens at 9am on April 3 with The McLennan Ross Alberta Junior Tour registration opening 3 hours later at noon. Golf Genius centralized registration for all events will be used again in 2023. Please ensure your Golf Canada Score Centre profile is updated in order to register for championships and qualifiers.
The McLennan Ross Alberta Junior Tour has 24 events across Alberta this season and we’ve added new events to our Championship schedule that now include a Best Ball event, All Abilities Championship and a Super Senior Championship.
ALBERTA GOLF’S RECREATIONAL BRAND UPSWING: FIND.. BOOK.. PLAY
After a successful launch in 2022, UpSwing by Alberta Golf looks to build on its offering in 2023 with more events and playing opportunities. A highlight this year will again be the Family Golf Festival as Lil Devil GC (Calgary) and Rundle GC (Edmonton) play host. Looking for a mountain adventure? We have events planned for Fairmont Banff Springs, Silvertip Resort and the Canmore Golf & Curling Club. Lots of fun on our schedule as Alberta courses begin to fill up the events calendar.
COME TO THE FIRST EVER CALGARY WRANGLERS / ALBERTA GOLF DAY AT THE DOME ON SUNDAY MARCH 26
On Sunday, March 26 Alberta Golf will be featured at the The Calgary Wranglers game against The San Diego Gulls. The Wranglers are The Calgary Flames AHL farm team. We will be involved with the puck drop, an intermission putting contest and have a booth to showcase what Alberta Golf has going on for the 2023 season and beyond.

30 GOLFERS ASSISTED BY THE 2023 ALBERTA GOLF ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Alberta Golf is assisting 30 golfers across the province in 2023 in the Athlete Development Program. The program is designed to help golfers throughout Alberta reach their competitive goals in the sport.
SHAGANAPPI POINT GOLF COURSE NAMED YOUTH ON COURSE PROGRAM LOCATION OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to The City of Calgary golf course Shaganappi Point for being named by Golf Canada the 2022 Youth on Course Program Location of the Year. Shaganappi Point led the country by hosting a total of 1,832 Youth on Course rounds, where youth 18 years of age and under paid $5 for each round, a price that was made possible by over $13,000 in green fee subsidies at Shaganappi Point.

EGA UPDATE
The Edmonton Golf Association has announced their 2023 event calendar. Registration for all events opens on April 1. The main events include:
June 23-25 Men’s Amateur Tournament at Broadmoor Golf Course
July 16-17 – Jiffy Lube Edmonton Junior Championship at The Derrick Golf and Winter Club
July 23-24 – BMW Men’s Open Championship at Northern Bear Golf Club
July 23-24 – Arctic Spas Senior Open at Northern Bear Golf Club
July 23-24 – Crystal Glass Senior Men’s Amateur at Northern Bear Golf Club
July 30-31 – Ladies Vicky Homes Tournament at Highlands Golf Club
