Riley Fleming wins 2021 Alberta Open Championship
Alberta Golf (Ponoka) – 2-time Alberta Open champion Riley Fleming of Airdrie added a 3rd Alberta Open trophy on a hot day at Wolf Creek Golf and RV Resort but it wasn’t easy. Fleming started the day with a 5 shot lead on 2019 champion Andrew Harrison, but after the Camrose product went 4 under on his first 5 holes the lead was gone and they were tied. Fleming used an eagle chip in on the 8th hole and birdie putt on 11 to get a 4 stroke lead and he never looked back winning by 6 strokes over Harrison. The Alberta Open presented by SVR Lawyers has a purse of $30,000 and Fleming collects $8,000 for the victory, Harrison $5,000 for 2nd and 6-time champion Wes Heffernan $3,450 for 3rd.
