2009 PGA Tour and LPGA Q-School Complete Adrienne White of Red Deer, AB (pictured above) was able to secure conditional status on the LPGA Tour. Adrienne shot a final round 3-over 75 to finish tied for 22nd. Barrett Jarosch of Edmonton, AB secured his Nationwide Tour Card after 1 final round 2-over to finish tied for 64th. Golf demonstration held at Special Olympics Alberta AGM Alberta Golf participated in the sport demonstrations held at the Special Olympics Alberta AGM held on October 17, 2009 at the Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel. Athletes had the opportunity to hit some putts on our putting green for prizes which proved to be very exciting for the athletes, coaches, and administrators. Van Dornick Wins RBC Insurance Senior Men's Championship Frank Van Dornick of the Camrose GC shot a final round 73 to win the RBC Insurance Senior Men's Championship at the Highwood GCC. Scholarship Seminar a Success |

Alberta Golf hosted another successful Scholarship Seminar over the weekend. The event took place at the Mount Royal College in Calgary with upwards of 70 attendees. The presenters discussed everything from opportunities and obstacles to the entire process of getting started in the right direction. | A number of Albertans have had great finishes on the pro circuit in the last few weeks. Dustin Risdon of Strathmore finished 10th on a Nationwide Event this past weekend winning $15,000. James Love of Calgary lost in a playoff on a Gateway Tour event January but still won $13,500. Barrett Jarosch of Edmonton finished 3rd this past weekend on the Gateway Tour picking up a cheque for $10,200. | ||

Chinook Golfer Partners with AGA |

The Alberta Golf Association is excited to announce that the Chinook Golfer magazine has agreed in principle to become a contributing sponsor of the 2009 Alberta Golf Women's Summit, Conference and Tradeshow to be held May 29-30, 2009 at the Mayfield Inn, Edmonton. "The transition of the Calgary Golfer Newspaper to becoming the Chinook Golfer magazine will continue to provide golfers in southern Alberta with terrific golf updates and profiles on courses and personalities on our industry. Our past relationship with the Calgary Golfer was outstanding and we are looking forward to being engaged with such a professional group as the Chinook Golfer," said Brent Ellenton, Alberta Golf Association's executive director. In 2009, the Chinook Golfer will publish a Spring and Summer issue. Copies will be available at golf courses and other highly visible public areas. |
